So far this semester we have discussed baseball (and specifically the ball field) as a place where boundaries of class, race, gender, and ability are tested.
For the first essay, select one of the works we have read for class. How does it treat one of these issues? How does the work complicate what we expect with regard to this topic? How does the work use baseball as a way to stage a conflict that has implications for society as a whole?
Make sure you have a clear thesis/topic sentence. For full credit, the paper should be 2-3 pages long and follow the format outlined in the syllabus.
